Two drug dealers were arrested

SEBERANG PERAI – Police secured a drug smuggling operation masterminded by two local residents and confiscated 6.3 kilograms of narcotics worth RM86,390 in Seberang Perai Utara (SPU), here, last Friday.

Seberang Perai Utara Police Chief (SPU), Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Radzi Ahmad said that the Penang Narcotics Investigation Team (JSJN) arrested two suspects, aged 26 and 25, in two raids in Sungai Dua and Butterworth.

“Police found 14 packets of heroin weighing 6.3 kilograms worth RM84,000 and two packets of ganja weighing 47.8 grams with an estimated value of RM2,390.

“We also confiscated cars and motorbikes, rings and chains with a total of RM136,140 as loot and drug seizures,” he told reporters here tonight.

Commenting further, he said, the results of the investigation found that the syndicate had been active since last June for the local market and the amount of drugs seized could meet the needs of about 31,500 addicts.

“Urine screening found that both were positive for tetra hydrocannibol (THC) and ketamine, and also had a past record of criminal and drug related activities.

“Both suspects were detained for six days from September 8 and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said. – COSMO! CONNECT
